How Long Should I Sit on Music For?

This is the first time I've sat on an album for this long, maybe around 5 months. The music has been finished all this time, I have been working on the album movie, which now feels of equal weight as the music.

What are my thoughts about waiting to release on reflection?

I still don't think the added time brings anything to the work. I'm in the thought camp of you can work as fast as you desire.

It could give you more time to forget how things sound so you can more objectively listen, but one thing I have learnt over time is to let things sit. Export it and come back in a week. Once you get to a point where you can work efficiently it's hard to over listen.

The one interesting part is due to the release of the previous singles. I released 3 singles, a month apart. 'Sunrise', 'Smiling Eyes' and 'Sun Dance'. Now each of these has been the soundtrack to each of their given release month. And these tracks are placed at the beginning, middle and later chapter of the album, so they bring a sense of progression. A memory of passing time.

Part of me still would have liked to have released this album during Summer. Learning to do what is best for the work is one of the speed bumps of the 'Get Work Done' attitude. The album without the movie would have been half the work it is now.
