Germinated from interactions, happenings, collisions, visions, and dreams; the spectrum of existence, both physical and non-physical.
What intrigues me most is the unknown. The space between the ‘Physical’ and the ‘Non Physical’, the ‘Internal’ and the ‘External’, and all other analogies of the separation between two places, that may not be separate at all.
These works are explorations of my experiences from these undefined spaces. Dreams have been the most common source, thrown upon me with regular recurring ease. Others have been born from what may be described as ‘Apparitions’ or ‘Visions’, blurring and merging the boundaries of ‘Eyes Open’ and ‘Eyes Closed’ time.
I began taking note of my dreams around 2013, but it wasn’t until 2021 that journaling became an almost daily routine. I don’t catch them all, sometimes they slip away, maybe returning as a whisper. Jotting down even the smallest detail can bring back more. The stories that sit beside paintings are the exact words from my journal.
This interest in the unknown has heightened my awareness of the abnormal, leading to more of my works becoming an exploration of reality. Like finding a fish where it should not be. Hearing an ungrounded noise. Or having the world lose light for a few seconds, as if the sun blinked. And these examples were corroborated by who I was with at the time.
