How to send audio from Ableton Live to OBS using ASIO. Easy.

READ THIS update JAN 2023-

*** Set the identifier on both the plugin in your DAW & in OBS to '1' (change where it says default)

*** Add an ‘Audio Input Capture’ on OBS (instead of Audio Output)

*** OBS only sees plugins in specific folders -

C:/Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins

C:/Program Files/Common Files/Steinberg/Shared Components

C:/Program Files/Common Files/Vst2

C:/Program Files/Common Files/VstPlugins

C:/Program Files/VstPlugins

This method won't send anything played in the sample browser to OBS. Also, Read the comments on Youtube on the video above, some great people have left more solutions if this doesn't work.

UPDATE JUNE 23 - Follow the original steps, this is if your OBS Reastream isn't receiving audio-

I've had problems getting this working this last week, I've managed to find a workaround from a reddit post -

https://www.reddit.com/r/Restreamio/comments/p4b9ob/comment/hcen6pe/?utm_source=share&utm

IF this link doesn't work, I've copied and pasted the original text in a reply to one of the comments.

It installs a phone to webcam driver from - https://iriun.com/

Then add an 'audio input' channel

Right click, Properties, changed device to 'Microphone (irun webcam)'

right click on that audio input, then filter, and add the reastream plugin like before

Here are the steps that I found have worked and to be the easiest.

  1. We’re going to use “ReaStream” vst.
Install “ReaPlugs VST FX Suite” from here
    http://reaper.fm/reaplugs/

  2. Once it’s installed place the vst on the master channel.
The name (where it says ‘default’) is how the ‘talks’ to other instances.
Set it to “Send Audio” -> “Local Broadcast”

Set the identifier to '1' (change where it says default)

  3. Add a new ‘Audio Input Capture’ on OBS (Test ‘Audio Output Capture’ if ‘Input Capture’ isn’t working)

    Select
    Right-click
    Filters
    Add VST 2.X plugin
    Select ‘ReaStream’ standalone
Set this instance to “Recieve Audio”

Set the identifier to '1' (change where it says default)

I hope this helped. I watched far too many 22 minute long videos trying to sort this out.
If it didn’t, good luck. I find this to be a real pain.

This is assuming you have Ableton Live and OBS installed properly.
